Olive Garden Community
Beyond the restaurant walls — how Olive Garden and its parent company,
Darden, actually put money and food into the communities they serve, sourced
directly from official company reporting.
Olive Garden’s community involvement runs through Darden Restaurants and the Darden Foundation, its charitable arm. The biggest standing programs are Harvest (weekly food donations from every restaurant, running since 2003), Pasta for Pennies (an Olive Garden-specific partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), the Next Course Scholarship for team members’ children, and disaster relief work with the American Red Cross. Since 1995, the Darden Foundation has donated more than $110 million to charitable organizations.

Verified Community Giving Metrics
Direct figures from Olive Garden’s nationwide Harvest Program and Darden Foundation initiatives:
The programs, by name
What Olive Garden actually runs
Harvest
Every one of Olive Garden’s 900+ restaurants gathers wholesome, surplus food each week — pasta, soup, chicken, vegetables — and donates it to local nonprofits through Food Donation Connection, instead of discarding it. Across all Darden brands combined, the program has donated more than 148 million pounds of food since it began.
Pasta for Pennies
A long-running, Olive Garden-specific fundraising program benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society — one of the few community programs that’s branded to Olive Garden itself rather than shared broadly across all of Darden’s restaurant brands.
Next Course Scholarship
Funded by the Darden Foundation, this program awards $3,000 postsecondary scholarships to children or dependents of Darden team members. It’s grown quickly — from 97 recipients across 80 restaurants in its first year to nearly 300 recipients representing 140+ restaurants across 39 states.
American Red Cross partnership
The Darden Foundation has been a dedicated Red Cross partner since 1997, supporting disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery. Olive Garden and other Darden brands are also members of the Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, donating meals to families affected by hurricanes, flooding, and other emergencies.
Restaurant Community Grants
Individual restaurants — including Olive Garden locations — can contribute toward $1,000 grants supporting local nonprofits focused on education, hunger relief, or environmental preservation. Multiple restaurants in a market often pool contributions for a bigger single grant.
